Philosophy and Overview

At Seed and Sky,  we feel an 8:1 student-teacher ratio is best, ensuring personalized attention and support for every learner. Our curriculum features both mixed-age activities, as well as grade-specific content and instruction to challenge and engage children at their developmental level.  We combine popular Charlotte Mason style homeschool curricula with our own emergent curriculum to create a tailored learning environment for the specific students in our program. Focusing on elementary sciences; botany, zoology, earth science, and elementary physics, we incorporate state standards with our encounters on the  farm. We provide you with documentation you can use as part of your homeschool reviews with the county or umbrella as needed.  Students can meet their educational needs while learning life skills in a child centered environment with passionate, professional, and experienced educators.

"Outdoor learning has been an invaluable experience for our daughter. Engaging in this environment alongside her peers has had a very positive impact on her development. We thank Sara and are grateful for her commitment to ensuring the children have a positive and engaging experience"

Unstructured Outdoor Time

During our day we provide the children time to explore and create using their own ideas and imagination in a mixed age environment.

Guided Intentional Studies

Our curriculum includes focused learning activities, where children keep journals and create art to document our lessons, discoveries, and reflections.

Survival Skills

Children learn practical skills such as shelter building, fire tending, basic first aid, identifying wild edible plants, and vegetable gardening.

A Day at Seed and Sky

Our Days are a blend of structured and unstructured time with opportunities for 1 on 1 learning

Morning Meeting

After settling in, we start our day with a group meeting and discussion to set the stage for our focused learning and activities of the day

Focused Learning

Breaking off to our respective groups, we dive deeper into our topic with age appropriate experiments, small group projects, art, journaling and discussions

Mixed Age Activties

After lunch and down time, we will join together in a hike around the farm to check in on the animals, and chose an area to play and explore with opportunities for exercise

Ending the Day

We come together again for our closing meeting where we can talk about the days events, what we loved and what we want to know more about. Then as a group we can make plans for our next day together.
